(06 Oct 2009) Mott The Hoople returned to The Hammersmith Apollo for five nights in October 2009. The reunion of one of the best loved rock and roll bands of the Seventies marked the first time the original line-up had played together for over 35 years. It was fitting that these reunion shows were at Hammersmith Apollo, This is where one side of the famous Mott The Hoople Live album was recorded in 1973, and was the venue where they had to play twice in one day to satisfy ticket demand - the second show ending in near riot when the curtain came down on their final encore.
The reunion was originally scheduuled for two nights on the 2nd and 3rd of October, but due to exceptional public demand the group added a third show on 1st October, followed quickly by the fourth and fifth shows on 5th and 6th October.
Mott The Hoople also played two warmup gigs at the Blake Theatre in Monmouth Wales prior to the five sellout shows at the Hammersmith Apollo. The gigs were held on Friday, 25 Sep 2009 and Saturday, 26 Sep 2009 in an intimate seated theater with a capacity of less than 500.
