Was fortunate enough to catch Ian & Mick in Seattle in I believe '89 & '90, what great shows! I drove the thousand mile round trip specifically to see them play, & would do it again in a heartbeat! I hope you make it out to the West when you tour the U.S. in 2001! Take care!

Ian - my stepdad loves your records and had a huge collection back home in england. I was in a student bar talking French (I am here to improve my French skills) and one of your records came on! I tried to explain about Mott The Hoople and the big fan thing but she just looked at me like I was weird. She said were you like Sacha Distell and I said you and have something in common - I wasn't sure what!!! Anyway play Canada before I go home so I can make my old man jealous!

Ian, Been a big fan since I was in high school. I like all your stuff, but "Irene Wild" and "Rain" really move me. And "Man o' War" is such a great rock n' roll song. Raw and impossible to resist its groove. Just read your book --finally. Couldn't put it down once it arrived from Amazon. Think you mirror John Lennon in your honesty and openess lyrically. Your art has been a wonderful gift in my life. Can't wait until you come to Chicago. Thanks for the site that keeps your admirers up to date. All the Best!

Pure Joy is singing "Marionette" with my 5 year old son. He Loves "Mott The Hoople" and Ian. I'm eternally grateful to have had a brother 3 years my senior who had the best record (remember those?) collection of anyone I've known. I got turned onto MTH in the 70's and refuse to stop listening to Ian and MTH now. I work in a methadone clinic and play my tunes all day long. Every now and then an old timer (someone in there 40's or 50's) will wonder into my office and freak to the tunes. Rock-On

Really enjoy the Horse's Mouth feature. Seen IH a few times here in the Bay Area [all post-MTH, though]: '79 with the big band [Berkeley Community Theater, John Hiatt opening and Nick Gilder in the middle]; '81 when Ronson was subbing on keys [Old Waldorf in San Fran after Graham bought it]; '86 with Roy Brown [not sure about that name - piano player] and that incredible short bassist [The Stone and a big San Jose club whose name escapes me]; couple more tours in the late '80s with Ronson [SF Oasis and the Stone again]. But then in autumn '97 at the Cine Bar club in Harrow - we were vacationing in London and saw the listing so we rode way out there [bought =Artful Dodger= a day or so before in the Kensington High Street Tower store to bone up]. Show let out late, but there were still trains, and it was raining, which was just right for us - if we want warm weather we head south or stay put. Because, like a lot of Americans, I think of Hunter as a very English performer [not changing the accent much and so on, wherever he resides], I'm happy that his was the first [and so far only] band I've seen live in the UK. Anyway, thanks, and I hope this site keeps going.

Good luck with the album. When it hurts or you're pissed off, when you're knackered and it ain't jelling, think of people like moi stuck on rain-soaked England. I've got to listen to the bloody thing in April (a 40th birthday present) and beyond. And you're right. England is a mess. I've got more parking tickets than albums and you need a deposit to see anybody big. Hope Mr York is doing his stuff too. Busy man fitting all this music stuff with Man Utd and the extra-curricular in the good old Rainy City. Andrew Field PS: Rod Steward did do "Love a Woman" - you wanted Rod the Mod to cover it. The other Rod busks down my street.

This site is great, given how hard it always was in the past to get info on what Ian's been up to! I've been a fan since the very early 70s, and have seen both Mott the Hoople and Ian several times - including the Rock and Roll Heaven gig that's on MIA. Ian, I'm glad you're still around, still making music that matters -- in fact, my kids have been listening to OBTS and loving it! Keep on rocking, Best wishes, Paul Axford

I was first introduced to MTH by my daughter in 1973 and went to both shows at the Shubert Theater in Philly in May of 1974. Great shows! Always loved ATYD, but am currently playing Dirty Laundry and love My Revolution along with the rest! So happy to see this forum on the site.

Hi Ian, Its gtreat to have this channel to send some thights and messages through to you. (2 main memeories are a blistering version of "OHIO" at Kingston Poly in the winter of 1970. i was in the front row and Ralphrer's overdiven gutar chording was unbelievable. I remener you at the Oval the fiolloewwing summer having trouble standing on the electic piano while wielding a pair of tambourines in each hand during "Keep a Knocking". Soorry there's a 3_tumbling in to the orchestra pit having failed to grab your leg on the catwalk whem the safety curtain came down at Hamm odeon Dec1973. Your lyrice and songwriting have been dear companions for many years and I rate your ENERGY level too . NICK

Hi, Ian, Just to say I think Ressurection Mary is a great song. I'm still playing at pubs etc and have done the song a couple of times and people have asked me about it, hope you don't mind. I'm trying to set up a music project here in Preston to help people who have never had the chance to learn an instrument so busy times are ahead but I'll be keeping playing. Hope to see you in 2001 if you can play Manchester and/or Lancashire couldn't make it to Leeds last time round. Steve
